By SANDRA  MWILA –
NKANA striker Walter Bwalya and Mufulira Wanderers midfielder Jacob Ngulube failed to join the national team camp preparing for the Gabon 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Group E qualifier against Kenya.
As Bwalya and Ngulube failed to pitch up for camp, George ‘Chicken’ Lwandamina’s squad, comprising of locally based players, was beefed with the arrival of the Power Dynamos quartet of Christopher Munthali, Paston Daka, Kelvin Mubanga and Benson Sakala.
Chipolopolo team manager Lusekelo Kamwambi said in an interview after yesterday’s morning training session at the Heroes National Stadium that Walter and Ngulube had not reported for camp yet owing to injuries.
But Kamwambi said despite reports that the duo picked up injuries, the Chipolopolo practice is for the players to be released by the clubs so that the national team medics can check on them.
He said the Wanderers medical team had communicated Chipolopolo to team doctor Joseph Kabungo on Ngulube’s injury and that the player will not report for this particular camp.
“The Power Dynamos players have reported for camp but Walter and Jacob have not come due to injuries. If they don’t report by today (yesterday) it will not be necessary for them to come because the team breaks camp on Thursday but they can join us next week,” he said.
