Chief Ndungu has said he will only comment on President Edgar Lungu’s call for Lundas and Luvales to reconcile their boundary disputes after the Likumbi Lya Mize ceremony next weekend when he consults his subjects.
“I can’t comment  on the matter but will be able to issue a comprehensive statement after the ceremony,” he said.
His counterpart Senior Chief Ishindi of the Lunda people has welcomed the directive and assured Government of cooperation.
“We welcome the commission to resolve the conflict and we are going to be cooperative, and that is the climax we are looking forward to now,” he said.
President Lungu last week gave a one month ultimatum to the Ministry of Chiefs and Traditional Affairs to conduct an inquiry on how the long-standing conflict between the two tribes was going to be resolved.
President Lungu recently made the directive when he graced the Lunda Lubanza Ceremony of the Lunda people in Zambezi East, and that Government will make a decision in a months’ time on how the boundary dispute between senior chiefs Ishindi of Zambezi East and Ndungu of Zambezi West would be dealt with.
The President urged the two traditional leaders to dialogue and end the long-standing boundary dispute between the two chiefdoms and subsequently foster development.
