Ndola Protea hotel building takes shape

THE construction of the K60 million Protea Hotel in Ndola has advanced with 30 per cent of the works having been done so far.
A check at the site which is located opposite the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium showed the construction works in progress.
The hotel would be the second largest in the city with 80 rooms and three conference rooms.
Velos Enterprise, a local contractor, has been engaged to construct the multi-million kwacha ultramodern hotel.
Site foreman, Godfrey Mupeta, said that the construction of the building had progressed with about 30 per cent of the works so far having been done.
He said this in an interview at the site.
Mr Mupeta said the construction of the hotel was expected to be completed by August next year.
Protea Hotels is a member of Marriott International, a leading global hotel group.
The Ndola hotel will be the eighth hotel in the Protea Hotels Zambian portfolio and it will make Protea Hotels the largest hospitality brand in the country.
Chairperson of Union Gold, the company that owns the Protea Hotels in Zambia, Mark O’Donnell, told ETN Global Travel recently that Protea Hotel Ndola would be the second largest in the city with 80 rooms and three conference rooms.
He said the hotel was expected to employ about 180 jobs.
