By SHAMAOMA MUSONDA At Lusaka club –
ZAMBIA yesterday had a less-than impressive start to the 2015 Africa States Bowl tournament in Lusaka with the men’s team losing two games to South Africa while the women won one and tumbled in the other.
But this was just the beginning of the event and Zambia still has a chance to overturn the result in more tiers against South Africa.
The Zambia women’s team defeated their South African opponents in the pairs 24-13 before losing to the same opponents 13-12 in the triples.
They were still hoping to impose their dominance in the singles and fours which they were yet to play.
Other women results saw Namibia beat Kenya in both the pairs and triples while Zimbabwe defeated Botswana in the pairs but lost when the two sides met in the triples.
In other results in the men’s category, Malawi beat Namibia in the singles but the two exchanged fortunes in the fours.
The same was the case in the pairing of Botswana and Kenya where in the singles, the Tswanas came out on top while the East Africans were the stronger of the two in the fours.
Zambia was hoping to overturn fortunes when the play South Africa in the Doubles and Triples.
The tournament continues today at Lusaka Club and Central Sports Club.
