Nkana dominate CB cricket

RUNAWAY Copperbelt Cricket Association (CCA) Under-17 league leaders, Nkana have continued with their dominance in the region after posting a 10-wicket win over hosts Ndola A at Kanini Cricket Club.
It was a terrible day for Ndola A, who in an earlier match played at the same venue, also lost to Mufulira by 139 runs in a lopsided match.
In their opening game against Mufulira, Ndola A won the toss and opted to field first and in their innings, the visitors posted 162 runs for six wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
Exciting Michael Kunda top-scored with 34 runs while Warren Siwaki stuck to the crease with 23 runs and Kelvin Musonda on 19 runs and both not out.
The best bowler for Ndola was Sydney Kasongo who took three wickets.
Ndola A, batting second, were all out for just 23 runs in only 7.3 overs with Mofya Mambwe standing out as the best bowler for Mufulira who got five wickets.
In their second match of the day against Nkana, Ndola A, batting first, were all out for 39 runs with batsman Godfrey Chanda knocking 27 runs not out while none of the other batsmen were able to score double figures.
The best bowlers for Nkana were Chola Longwa and Moses Chabu with four wickets apiece.
Nkana, batting second, raced to their victory target in just three overs with openers Longwa unbeaten on 23 runs and Shem Mukisi on eight runs not out.
In Luanshya, hosts Luanshya lost to visiting Nchanga by five wickets.
The hosts won the toss and chose to bat and scored 84 runs all out in 13 overs where Orwissy Makungu top-scored with 12 runs and pick of the bowlers for Nchanga was Lumina Mambo with two wickets.
In reply, Nchanga reached their victory target in 15 overs for the loss of five wickets with Innocent Syanda hitting an unbeaten 24 runs while Lumina Mambo was 14 runs not out.
In Lusaka, Makeni Warrior beat Woodlands Stars by two runs in a tight low-scoring match as the Zambia Cricket Union (ZCU) Lusaka under-17 boys’ development league entered Week Three.
Makeni Warriors won the toss and opted to bat first and scored 84 runs all out in 15 overs with Peter Tembo scoring 24 runs while Pethias Njobvu scored 10 runs.
Woodlands Stars batting second were surprisingly all out for 82 runs in 14.1 overs to lose by two runs
In the second match of the day, Burma Stars won the toss and decided to bat first and scored 92 runs all out 15 overs with Bwalya Mupeta scoring 22 runs and pick of the bowlers for Kabwata Dynamos was Isaac Banda who got four wickets.
Kabwata Dynamos, batting second, managed to pass the score to win by five wickets and had Eliazar Phiri to thank for contributing 20 runs while Savior Phiri had 16 runs for the team.
