KITWE Playing Fields (KPF) today takes on Kroonstad as the Klerksdorp 7’s rugby tournament kicks off in South Africa.
KPF are in South Africa to take part in the two-day event that ends tomorrow in Klerksdrop where they arrived by road from Zambia on Monday.
Delegation leader and club treasurer Jeremiah Manda said in an interview from Klerksdrop yesterday that the team was geared for the tournament after playing one warm-up match on Tuesday.
“We arrived Monday night and training started on Tuesday morning with a game against Leopards-select in the evening under flood lights that we lost 20-10 but the boys put up a strong fight. The spirit in camp is high and we are looking forward to the games over the weekend,” Manda said.
KPF are in Group D in the 40 team tournament and kickoff their campaign this morning at 11:00 hours against Kroonstad before taking on CMR Meridian Maoris in their final game of the day at 16:20 hours.
The Kitwe side will tomorrow play Leeutjies at 09:40 hours in their penultimate Group D match before facing Warriors at 12:40 hours.
