CHINESE Ambassador to Zambia Yang Youming has expressed confidence that the Government will overcome the current economic problems that the country is experiencing.
Mr Yang said China is also willing to work together with the Zambian Government in trying to overcome the economic problems through deepening bilateral and mutually beneficial cooperation.
“I firmly believe that the Zambian Government and people have the capacity to overcome the current temporary difficulties and to achieve better and faster social and economic development.
“In the process, China is willing to work together with Zambia to participate in its economic development, to deepen the bilateral all-round, friendly and mutually-beneficial cooperation, and to develop our bilateral relationship into a role model for South-South cooperation,” he said.
The Chinese envoy was speaking on Monday evening during a reception marking the 66th National Day of the People’s Republic of China.
The China-Zambia cooperation had witnessed a continued expansion in infrastructure, mining, agriculture, manufacturing, financing and trade.
The Chinese Government was also encouraging more Chinese enterprises to continue to make more investment in Zambia and to create more and better job opportunities for the Zambian people.
Currently, the two countries are implementing the outcomes of President Edgar Lungu’s visit to China early this year.
This included the expansion of the Levy Mwanawasa Hospital, the donation of vocational education materials, forest protection materials and the possible establishment of milling plants across the country.
“Moreover, the two countries are committed to promoting industrial connectivity and enhancing bilateral cooperation in renewable energy, so as to bring more tangible benefits to the people,” Mr Yang said.
He said Zambia was an important partner of China in Africa and the Asian country was committed to working closely with the Forum of China Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) member states as the organisation celebrated its 15th anniversary.
