CHILUBABy CHUSA SICHONE –

THE Government has so far spent more than K2 million on the construction of second Republican president Frederick Chiluba’s mausoleum at Embassy Park in Lusaka.
Works and Supply Deputy Minister Mutaba Mwali said in an interview with the Sunday
Times that the K2,310,247 paid out to the contractor Jizan Construction Company Limited was part of the K3,645,297.36 revised contract sum.
Dr Mwali said tremendous progress in the construction of the mausoleum had been recorded and that the structure was nearing completion.
“The resting place for president Chiluba, according to our engineers, 85 per cent of the works have been done,” he said.
Dr Mwali said painting of the mausoleum and external works were what remained to be done.
Besides Dr Chiluba, former presidents Levy Mwanawasa and Michael Sata were also buried at Embassy Park.
