Konkola 6 Diggers 18
DEFENDING champions ‘Men At Work’ Diggers thumped Konkola to set up an exciting semi-final against Green Buffaloes in the Zambia Rugby Union (ZRU) 2015 Knock Out Cup this Saturday.
The quarter final matches involving Diggers and Kitwe Playing Fields (KPF) were delayed by a week after Chibuluma lodged in a protest claiming that the two clubs had used their players in their pre-quarterfinal wins.
But that complaint was successfully thrown out by the ZRU disciplinary committee though it could do nothing to KPF who were eliminated by Buffaloes following a 17-9 trouncing.
Thus, this weekend’s semi-final menu will see Buffaloes take on Diggers in an early kickoff at the Ndola Wanderers Rugby Club starting at 14:00 hours before Green Eagles battles Nkwazi in the second semi-final double header at 16:00 hours.
The final has been set for October 31 at the Green Eagles Rugby Club in Kabwe. Eagles beat Chibuluma 27- 5 to reach the semi-finals while Nkwazi picked up a 21-0 walkover win over Roan.
Back in Chililabombwe, the hosts could only manage two penalties through Cosmas Kayula as Happy Siame and Dean Zulu scored a try apiece from which Brian Mbalwa managed one conversion but made the other miss by scoring two penalties.
Buffalo 17 KPF 9
Buffaloes showed they mean business and want to win a title to add to their qualification to the elite league after beating fellow promoted side, KPF, to reach the last four.
Terry Kaushiku and Kelly Kanyemba placed a try each with the former scoring the conversion and added a penalty while KPF scored three penalties through ever inspiring Benaya Mukwamba.
