LuchangaBy SHAMAOMA MUSONDA and KALUMIANA KALUMIANA –

SOUTH African soccer giants Orlando Pirates and Zambian champions Zesco United have expressed interest in signing Lusaka Dynamos’ 17-year-old wonder-kid Conlyde Luchanga.
But Dynamos have indicated that they are in no rush to sell Luchanga despite prospective interest from foreign clubs following his impressive Chipolopolo debut on Saturday.
Club vice-chairperson Madalitso Kamanga said in an interview yesterday that teams had expressed interest in Luchanga but that selling the youngster was not Dynamos’ priority.
Kamanga said in an interview that big clubs both in Zambia and abroad had been asking for him, among them, Orlando Pirates of South Africa.
“We are not in a rush to get rid of Conlyde to any of the teams. We have had queries for the boy, some serious, some not so serious, but we are not in a rush. We want to make sure we develop him before we let him go,” he said.
Luchanga joined Dynamos this year from Mazabuka United and has made an instant impression scoring eight goals for the promoted club.
“What we would love is if Conlyde is bought, we would like keep him on the books of Lusaka Dynamos for one more season as a player on loan to us because we feel he still needs to get some mentoring and we are able to give him that one-on-one.
“This is because once a player goes there and he makes a mistake, then there is so much pressure on the boy and he is put on the bench and he is forgotten,” Kamanga said.
He added that Zesco had been on Luchanga’s case since June 27 this year when the Ndola side beat Dynamos 4-0 in  an MTN-FAZ Super League match in Ndola.
“Zesco beat us 4-0 but Luchanga played so well that Zesco immediately made enquiries. We know his abilities and that is why we kept saying he should have been included in the Zambia Under-20 campaigns but anyway, we are very happy George Lwandamina gave him a chance,” Kamanga said.
He described Luchanga was a courageous player who took on defenders without fear and that it was a special and rare quality in players of his age.
Without giving details, Kamanga said the club was trying to get Luchanga into a European academy where he would go to school in the morning and play football in the afternoon.
