UNITED States President Barack Obama has wished the people Zambia well on the attainment of 51 years of Independence.
US Secretary of State John Kerry said this in a message of congratulations issued by the US Embassy in Zambia yesterday.
Mr Kerry said the US government was looking forward to continue working with Zambia to promote prosperity and health in the country.
“We look forward to continuing to work with you to promote the building blocks of prosperity, which include education, access to quality health care, good governance, and respect for human rights under the rule of law,” Mr Kerry said.
He said the long partnership between Zambia and the US was grounded in mutual respect and it enhanced the security and prosperity of both countries.
The US honoured Zambia’s proud traditions, including its enduring commitment to a democratic future.
He said as Zambia celebrated its Independence, citizens should be aware that the US stood with the nation as partner and friend.
