By SANDRA MWILA –
JASSY Singh has virtually handed his young brother, Muna Junior, the title after indicating that he will not compete in the last leg of the Zambia Motor Sports Association (ZMSA) 2015 national rally championship.
Muna took control of the drivers standing after winning the Samfuel Rally held in Ndola and Kitwe over the weekend, to move to 133 points and opened up a 10-point lead over reigning champion, Jassy.
In distant third place is Vyon Pinto on 78 points while Leroy Gomes had 75 points and is fourth, meaning none of the two can catch Muna even if they won the last leg of the rally unless Jassy makes a u-turn and races in the last rally.
Jassy, who has tipped his brother to win this year’s national championship, said he will not be participating in the last round of the national rally because he has no car having used Muna’s car during the weekend rally.
“My brother (Muna) should win the national title and I will be more than happy, he has been working hard, as for me, I am not competing because I have no car. I used Muna’s car in the Samfuel rally and he sold it,” Jassy said.
Jassy, however, promised to bounce back next year and give the drivers competition especially that he will not be taking part in the African Rally Championship.
Meanwhile, Muna said in a separate interview that nothing will stand in his way as he aims to win his first ever national rally championship.
Muna expressed confidence of bagging the 2015 rally championship with his newly acquired Subaru R4. He said that no car at the moment could match his latest acquired vehicle making him to have a higher chance of winning the title.
