PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu has said Zambians should continue seeking God through prayer in order to receive wisdom and be able to cushion the current economic difficulties.
President Lungu said this on arrival at the Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport in Ndola yesterday to join soccer fans for the Zambia versus Sudan, World Cup qualifier at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium which the hosts won 2-0.
President Lungu said that despite the challenges, God should not be ignored in such situations.
President Lungu was received at the airport by Youth and Sports Minister Vincent Mwale, senior Government officials and Patriotic Front (PF) officials.
Mr Lungu said that others claimed that he had spiritualised the economic challenges, but that the current challenges were secular in nature.
“We are praying to God and looking for solutions, God is there to offer us the solutions. Others are saying that I spiritualised the economic hardships, but these are secular in nature and despite being secular, we cannot ignore God in such times. Those that are saying that God does not work, it’s their fault because for us God is there,” he said.
He said that the country had challenges, but he was not spiritualising them as he was addressing them as they were coming and that God was there to offer direction and solutions.
President Lungu said that other people who did not worship, thought that there was no God to offer the country solutions.
He said that when God answered, people did not say anything, while some criticised the National Day of Prayer, on October 18.
He cited the appreciation of the Kwacha, saying that people did not say anything, but adviced that God should be thanked for the solutions given to the current problems.
He urged people in the country to remain united even in times when the country was faced with economic challenges.
