Ms Saili said the matter was being ably handled by the surveyor general and other senior Government officials together with their Malawian counterparts.
“This is Lot 3 and the contractor is Avic International at a contract sum amounting to K273 million, both government agencies are committed to seeing the road completed due to its importance,” she said.
The Isoka-Muyombe Road was divided into three portions with Lot one and two, being close to completion.
And residents spoken to in an interview expressed gratitude to Government for constructing the road.
The residents, some whom could not believe that the road would be tarred even after being assured by RDA, said they would wait till the completion of works.
Prinscilla Nambeye said any good road network was the beginning of development in the area and that it would help reduce deaths in pregnant women.
“Most people associate good roads to only improved businesses, but what about issues of accessing health facilities, especially among expectant mothers? We are extremely impressed as women here. Nowadays we just call emergency lines and transport will come because of good roads,” she said.
