BUILDCON Investments Limited has staked in K20,000 towards the hosting of the 2015 Judge Lloyd Siame annual squash tournament billed for the Ndola Squash Club on November 28.
Tournament organising committee chairperson Chungu Kapema said Buildcon were glad to be the main sponsors of the tournament.
“We are glad to announce that Buildcon are the main sponsors for this year’s Judge Lloyd Siame tournament. All is set for this tournament that takes place next week and will attract participants from across the country,” Kapema said.
The tournament will see defending champions Kundanji Kalengo and Sharon Chimfwembe in the men and women singles, respectively, face stiff competition to retain their titles.
Kapema said 80 players, mostly youths, would compete for honours in this year’s tournament.
“We are happy that this year’s tournament will have more youth participants, which underscores our commitment of promoting youth development,” he said.
Meanwhile, Kapema said Ndola Squash Club had secured funds for the rehabilitation of the courts scheduled to commence next month.
He said the club had also secured K32,000 to sink a borehole in a bid to abate the water challenges.
“We have managed to secure funds for sinking a borehole and erecting a tank which should start by the end of next month.
“We are further appealing to the well-wishers to come to our aid in material or monetary form as we embark on refurbishing our club,” Kapema said.
