By REBECCA MUSHOTA –
PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu will expel any member of the Patriotic Front (PF) involved in early campaigns for adoption as parliamentary candidates.
The President said all members that were going round lobbying for parliamentary seats at this point were causing confusion and risked being expelled from the party.
He was speaking at Old Mkushi School in Luano District at a rally on Monday evening.
The President said he had information that some members, particularly those in Central Province, were on a rampage soliciting constituency adoptions.
Mr Lungu said this was causing confusion for some area members of Parliament (MPs).
There is enough time for people to push for their adoption much later, especially that this time is for work.
“I hear that there is someone who is coming here, going to Kabwe and to Kapiri, saying that he wants to be the MP. It is 10 months before elections so we need to work together with our MPs to bring development and not cause confusion,” President Lungu said.
He said it was important to remain united as a party in order to work and win the upcoming general elections next year.
Mr Lungu would at the right time inform members the time to start seeking adoptions.
President Lungu said no one should disturb Mkushi South MP Davies Chisopa as he carried out his duties with talk of being adopted.
He also suspended the impending elections for the PF Central Province executive.
The current executive would continue working and should do its best or risk being dissolved.
Mr Lungu said he had suspended the elections because there was some in-fighting in the province, something which had the potential to divide the PF in Central Province.
President Lungu said he was grateful to the people of Luano District for voting for him even if they had not seen him campaign there in January for the presidential election.
Mr Lungu said he had already started delivering on the promises late President Michael Sata had made to them like infrastructure development and clean water as evidenced by the on-going borehole drilling projects as well as the administration building project.
Mr Lungu said no one should be denied development just because they lived in rural areas.
