MUNTHALIPOWER Dynamos insist defender Christopher Munthali is going nowhere as he still has a full year remaining on his contract.
Munathli on Friday night hinted that he might be leaving Power in January after alleging that his contract expires on December 31, with Zesco United and Zanaco possible destinations.
However, Power club secretary Ricky Mamfunda said in an interview in Kitwe that Munthali still had a running contract at Arthur Davies which goes up to December 31, 2016.
“Munthali has another full year at the club. His contract goes up to 31st December, 2016. So, as far as Power Dynamos is concerned, we do not have intentions to release him to any club at home or outside and the coach Tenant Chilumba still has plans for him next season. So he is not going anywhere,” Mamfunda said.
Mamfunda also disclosed that no club had contacted Power for Munthali’s services.
“In any case, no club has approached us to express interest in his services. There are no offers from anyone, so he is a Power Dynamos player and he is not going anywhere,” he said.
Munthali, who was crowned Player-of-the-Year, returned to Power in the 2015 season after spending the previous two years on loan at Nkana where he blossomed and later broke into the Chipolopolo team.
Meanwhile, rising star Conlyde Luchanga has expressed happiness over his nomination for the 2015 MTN-FAZ Super League Young Footballer-of-the-Year award.
Luchanga said in an interview yesterday that he was honoured to have been shortlisted for the award, especially that it was his first season playing in the Super Division.
The Lusaka Dynamos player said the nomination, on its own, was a great achievement in his footballing career and was grateful to God.
“I am honoured to have been nominated for the Young Player-of-the-Year in my first season playing in the Super Division. It is a great achievement in my football career and I am grateful to God for his Grace,” Luchanga said.
Luchanga said he was confident that he would walk away with the prize during the award gala set for this Thursday at Radisson Blu Hotel in Lusaka.
He said his performance might have been good but the best of him was yet to come in the 2016 soccer season.
Luchanga, who is wanted by Zesco, said his target for the 2016 season was to emerge as top scorer of the league regardless of which club he would play for.
Luchanga, who scored nine goals in the 2015 MTN-FAZ Super League, will be vying for the award alongside Red Arrows defender Benedict Chepeshi and Napsa Stars defender Boyd Mkandawire.
