SEVEN people died on the spot in a head-on collision involving a Toyota Hiace minibus and a truck.
The accident happened in Kabowa area, seven kilometres from Kapiri Mposhi.
Central Province Police Commissioner Lombe Kamukoshi confirmed the accident in an interview yesterday.
The Hiace minibus registration number was ALM 9134 while the foreign truck had registration numbers, FRB 947 GP and TMG 284 GP for the trailer.
“It was a head-on collision, which claimed the lives of all the seven passengers on the bus who included three females, two males and two juveniles,” Ms Kamukoshi said.
She said the driver of the South African-registed truck, whose identity was not provided, escaped unhurt.
She said none of the victims had been identified and that the bodies are in the Kapiri Mposhi Hospital mortuary.
“We have not yet identified the bodies of the seven people that have died and the bodies are at Kapiri Mposhi Hospital mortuary,” she said.
Ms Kamukoshi said the bus was heading towards in the southern direction.
