A WOMAN of Shang’ombo in Western Province has been stabbed by her brother following a dispute over nshima.
Western Province Police chief Charles Lungu said Mwangala Kafulo, 20, was stabbed in the left armpit by her brother when she failed to give him nshima.
“We received a report of unlawful wounding from Liuwa Village in Shang’ombo, where a man stabbed his sister in the left armpit after telling him that she did not leave any nshima for him,” Mr Lungu said.
The incident happened on Sunday evening when Hijakwanza Kafulo came home from a drinking outing and demanded nshima from his sister, who then told him that there was no food in the house.
He said Kafulo got upset and started beating his sister and later got a knife and stabbed her in the armpit.
Mr Lungu said Kafulo ran away after the attack, but a manhunt had commenced.
The injured sister was receiving treatment at Shang’ombo Hospital.
Meanwhile, property worth more than K25, 000 has been damaged after a tree fell on a house in Sesheke District following a rainstorm.
Mr Lungu said on Sunday, the district experienced a rainstorm that uprooted a tree which then fell on a house belonging to Kelvin Kalenga and destroyed his property.
He said the incident happened around 17:30 hours and that there was no life lost as no one was in the house at the time.
