Mulobezi man attempts killing self

A MAN of Mulobezi, in Western Province, sustained a bullet wound after he attempted to shoot himself in the head.
Moses Siyanga is alleged to have tried to take his own life by shooting himself in the head, but missed and accidentally shot the left side of his chest.
His mother also sustained a fractured arm after she wrestled with him in an effort to disarm him.
Western Province Police chief Charles Lungu said in an interview that the incident happened at the weekend in Kanyemba area.
Mr Lungu said Police received a report from Namaka Satubi, 66, that her son, Moses, had attempted suicide at home using a shotgun and in the process sustained the bullet wound.
“We received a report at the weekend that Siyanga had attempted to kill himself using a shotgun, but in the process sustained a deep cut on his left chest,” Mr Lungu said.
He said Siyanga’s mother also sustained a fractured arm as she attempted to stop her son from taking his life.
The gun used was a shotgun Baikal with serial number 03042503, which was recovered by the Police.
Siyanga has been admitted to hospital.
Meanwhile, a 47-year-old woman of Ndandula Village in Kaoma committed suicide by hanging herself using a chitenge material in her house.
Mr Lungu said Maseke Ndandula committed suicide between 07:00 hours and 12:00 hours on Sunday.
The motive of the suicide had not been established, and the Police did not suspect any foul play.
