By JOSEPH BANDA –
LUSAKA will have no water supply for two days or more following damage to the main supply line from Kafue.
This is in view of the extensive damage to the water works station in Libala Township after a motorist rammed into an air valve which affected the supply line.
Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company (LWSC) public relations officer Nshamba Muzungu said in a statement yesterday that the accident damaged the Kafue water supply line, which is the main source of water distribution to Lusaka.
Mr Muzungu said because of the extent of the damage and in order for the engineers and technicians to start repairs, the company was forced to shut down supply.
“This means that most parts of the city will not have water supply until repairs to the line are completed,” he said.
Engineers and technicians were already on site and the company expects to restore water supply within 48 hours.
However, it would take a few more days for the supply to stabilise after re-connection.
