NKANA treasurer Alex Munasha says he will contest the same position at the forthcoming elective Football Association Zambia (FAZ) annual general meeting on March 19 in Kitwe.
Munasha said in a statement yesterday that he believes his four years of experience as a Nkana executive committee member, during which the club has scored success on the pitch and in endorsement deals, will serve the nation well at Football House.
“I am in my fourth year as treasurer of Nkana Football Club having assumed that role in 2013, the same year the club won its 12th league title, and reached the group stage of CAF Confederations Cup in 2014.
“I have the very best of qualifications and experience FAZ needs in a treasurer who will bring financial discipline and attract the much needed corporate goodwill and quality sponsorship on board,” he said.
He said such qualifications and experience were needed to improve the quality of sponsorship for the Super League, the league cups and lower divisions across Zambia, which in the majority of cases were responsible for talent identification and nurturing of the same as they progress to higher leagues and eventually the national teams.
Munasha is a chartered accountant who previously worked for accounting firms PriceWaterhouseCoopers and Deloitte for a combined period of four years as an external auditor, and currently works for Mopani Copper Mines.
He also served as chief accountant at Industrial Credit Company for the same period.
“I have now served eight years in the mining sector in various senior positions within the finance departments.
“I am currently working with Mopani Copper Mines as business process controller,” he said.
