A LUSAKA housewife who sued her husband for infidelity got a shock of her life when her spouse revealed that she was impregnated by her church pastor.
The man told the court that the fifth child his wife had was not his but the pastor’s as she had signed documents to that effect.
He further revealed that his wife used to wash her private parts and pants each time she returned from prayers.
This is a case where Judith Mututa, 40, of Kanyama Township dragged her husband, Gaston Kaonga, 42, of Garden House for divorce in a marriage of more than 22 years with six children together.
“The last born child Mututa is carrying is not mine, but for the pastor who he resembles. I couldn’t take action because Mututa was pregnant but she signed the paper admitting being found with the pastor in a compromising mood in his house,” said Kaonga.
He produced the paper which Mututa signed admitting being found with the pastor which led to her pregnancy.
Kaonga narrated that he had been observing his wife’s actions each time she came back from the pastor’s house and sometimes she would even throw the pants in water.
“ She did well to sue me for divorce because I had similar intentions.
“She is accusing me of infidelity but she has forgotten how I made her sign a consent letter after finding her in the pastor’s house several times and pretended she was from seeing a friend,” he said.
The court heard that Mututa would then tell her suspicious husband that she was washing her private parts because of sweat.
He explained that in 2012, Mututa had brought the pastor to pray for him on two occasions over suspicions of infidelity .
However, the cleric started going to his home in his absence and when he was found, he ran away and hid in a friend’s house.
But Mututa told the court that she had never enjoyed her marriage because Kaonga left her in the village when she was six months pregnant and went to Ndola for two years in search of a job.
She explained that when she followed her husband she found him with another woman with two children.
Asked by the court how long they had been on separation, Mututa said they had not lived together for 10 months.
She also revealed that Kaonga had four children with other women.
The court granted the couple divorce because both husband and wife were involved in extramarital affairs which were unhealthy for their marriage.
