DEC nabs man over fake $9,900 notes

the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) has arrested a man of Mtendere Township in Lusaka for allegedly being found with US$9,900 counterfeit notes, equivalent to around K100, 000.
Maybin Zulu, 32, of Mtendere East was arrested in Kabulonga area as he was about to make a transaction.
DEC public relations officer, Theresa Katongo confirmed this in a statement yesterday.
“The suspect was arrested in Kabulonga residential area as he was about to transact,” she said.
Meanwhile, the DEC has arrested 12 juveniles countrywide for trafficking in various quantities of cannabis.
Arrested and jointly charged in Luapula Province was a 15-year-old boy of Chitamba Village in Mansa and Charity Chipundu, 42, of the same area for trafficking in loose cannabis weighing 2.613 kilogrammes.
Others arrested were three pupils of Mckenzie Township in Ndola on the Copperbelt for trafficking in 521 grammes of loose cannabis.
Two of the boys were aged 17 years while one was 14.
In Eastern Province, the Commission arrested three 18-year-old boys and one 17-year-old boy, all of Magazine Township in Chipata, for trafficking in cannabis weighing 109.9 grammes.
“The DEC would like to caution young people to desist from engaging themselves in drug abuse and trafficking activities whose consequences are dire,” she said.
All the suspects would appear in court soon.
