Miles Sampa 628x350By PERPETUAL SICHIKWENKWE and RABECCA CHIPANTA –

THE Patriotic Front (PF) is on solid ground and is not shaken by the resignation of its Matero Member of Parliament (MP) Miles Sampa, who announced leaving the party yesterday.
PF Matero Constituency chairperson Cris Kabole said Mr Sampa’s resignation had been long overdue and was widely anticipated.
Mr Kabole said Mr Sampa’s resignation was good riddance and healthy for the ruling party.
He said from the time Mr Sampa attempted to challenge President Edgar Lungu as PF party president, that was the beginning of his divided loyalty which unsettled the party’s hierarchy.
“You remember that time when we were going to the convention in Kabwe, Mr Sampa had indicated that if he didn’t win the presidency, he would either form his own party or join the United Party for National Development,” Mr Kabole said.
He said Mr Sampa’s claim that he wanted to remain in the party and forge reconciliation ties was not true.
Mr Sampa has been of frail terms with the PF, with many members questioning his allegiance and demanding that he leaves.
Mr Sampa yesterday announced casually on his Facebook page that he had left the PF.
