By DELPHINE ZULU –
TRADITIONAL leaders in Kafue District have called on the Government to complete the construction of Chikupi Day Secondary School which started in 2011.
The residents made the request during the week at a meeting called by the traditional leadership in the area to discuss various development issues in Mungu and Chikupi areas in Kafue District.
The residents bemoaned the delay to complete the project which had hindered many pupils from furthering their education due to long distances they are currently being subjected to.
They complained that the school had been at roof level for a long time, wondering when it would be completed and that no reasons were being advanced for the delay.
The residents asked the Government not to embark on any new projects before completing the old ones because people in the area were expecting to start using the facility which had stalled for years.
“This secondary school is aimed at reducing the long distances being covered by the pupils in the area, some as far as 20 kilometres. This secondary school, once completed, would see many pupils access this facility,” she said.

And area Member of Parliament Obvious Mwaliteta, who was part of the meeting, assured the traditional leaders that he would inform the Government and ensure that their concerns were addressed.
“The Government is concerned. I will deliver the concerns to Government and other stakeholders to know exactly what could have transpired leading to this prolonged delay,” Mr Mwaliteta said.
