WillzBy THANDIWE MOYO –

AWARD-WINNING dancehall artiste Willz will soon hit the music market with his new album, Toliwe.
Endowed with a unique and penetrating voice, Willz Nyopole, whose real name is Wilson Ngoma, said he has always loved music and plans to give his fans the very best.
“I have always loved music and I enjoy singing in my mother tongue which is Chewa. It makes me unique and standout,” he said.
Willz, who was born in 1990 in Zambia’s Central Province where he cultivated his dream of becoming a musician, is a talented singer and song writer .
Having risen from humble beginnings, the singer, who is the fifth in the family of six, has definitely earned his stripes and made a name out of his fabulous singles such as Toliwe (which is also the name of his new album), Londolo Nyopole and other breathtaking tracks.
His song Toliwe, which he did with songbird Wezi, landed him awards at the Zambia Music Awards (ZMA) as well as the Born and Bred awards.
However, this year the jovial artiste is working on his album which will include songs such as How Tough He Is, because he was born in the ghetto and Akadalisa, meaning when God blesses.
Although, his singing career has helped him get established and exposed him to fame, Willz has continued running businesses and working hard towards perfecting his skills.
The artiste said he was not happy that with the way Zambian artistes were being treated in the country where the economic potential of music was not recognised by the Government and stake holders.
He said most artistes in Zambia were talented and all they needed was support from the Government.
“ Go to Nigeria and South Africa where artistes are even given loans to help build up their career but our music in Zambia is not recognised,” he said.
He also lamented that piracy was the talk of the day and no serious control measures had been put in place to arrest the vice.
He said the country also needed new venues and old ones renovated so that artistes from other countries could be invited to make shows.
“We do not have proper music venues for shows besides clubs in Zambia and there are artistes who do not feel comfortable performing in such places. That is why it would be better if our music facilities were improved,” he said.
He advised fellow artistes not to engage in hooliganism and use of abusive language.
“Let us be professional in our music and do songs that will create happiness among all Zambians as we are ‘One Zambia One nation’,” he said.
