THE Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC) will this year embark on special initiative and district value chain projects that will see the creation of 35,000 jobs.
The special initiative projects are aimed at supporting the Government’s job creation and industrialisation strategy.
CEEC head public relations and communications, Glenda Masebe said the target projects include tourism franchising, block making, fish hatcheries, and innovation in Information Communication Technology (ICT) and energy sectors, packaging and water bottling plants.
This is contained in a statement made available to the Business Times.
Ms Masebe said CEEC was pleased to announce to the general public the extension period for submission of applications for empowerment project funding for the special initiatives and the district value chains.
“The Commission has extended the submission period for special initiatives from February 2 to February 29, 2016. Submission of application forms for the district project value chains has been extended from February 15, to February 29, 2016 at 14:00 hours,” she said.
Ms Masebe said the extension of the period for application was intended to allow targeted citizens wishing to undertake investment projects more time to prepare their applications.
The CEEC is a corporate body established through the enactment of the Citizens Economic Empowerment Act No. 9 of 2006 to foster broad-based economic empowerment.
