CHAMA Secondary Schools cadets in Muchinga Province have killed a 39-year-old man after they accused him of trespassing at the institution.
Pearson Sakala of Chizembe Village in Chief Kambombo was severely beaten by the cadets and later admitted to the hospital where he died.
Muchinga police Commissioner Auxensio Daka confirmed that Mr Sakala met his fate when he trespassed at the boarding school around 16:00 hours over the weekend.
He said Sakala who was beaten by cadets sustained serious injuries and later died at the hospital.
“We have a murder case in which a man identified as Pearson Sakala was beaten by pupils, He died later at the hospital. Mr Sakala was found trespassing on the school premises and beaten by school cadets,” he said.
Mr Daka however, said postmortem results showed that Mr Sakala died of an old sore in the intestine. He said no arrests were made but pupils were warned against taking the law into their own hands.
In Nakonde, Police have launched a manhunt for a man who murdered a 66-year-old man of Kawele Village in Nakonde District.
Mr Daka said Chimbwi Sikanyika was discovered dead in a maize field with a deep cut on the neck.
He said police suspected that an axe was used in the act as it was found besides the body.
Mr Daka said the suspects were on the run but police were investigating the matter and also looking for the culprits.
“We are still looking for the culprits and once they are caught, they will be brought to book. The challenge that we have is that when perpetrators in Nakonde disappear, they hide in Tanzania. As police we will not relent but continue to investigate,” he said.
He said the body was currently lying in Nakonde District Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
