SIKOTABy CHUSA SICHONE  –

VETERAN politician Sikota Wina has urged Zambians to consider having books such as Driftology-How to Access Life’s Greatest Opportunities by flying on the wings of others written by United Kingdom (UK)-based Zambian author and scholar Martin Kalungu-Banda and his daughter Mbololwa.
Speaking during the launch of the book at Government Complex in Lusaka on Friday evening, Mr Wina said reading the book was like taking a journey of exploration through the life of a young outstanding Zambian in troubled times.
Mr Sikota said the book enables the reader learn to cultivate and have an open mind; redirect the attention to connect with the highest future possibilities and access to great life opportunities.
“I would strongly recommend Zambians from all walks of life to have this book on their shelves, it is a collection which will remain invaluable even to the coming generation,” he said.
Reviewing the book at the same function, Bank of Zambia deputy Governor for Administration Tukiya Kankasa-Mabula described Mr Kalungu-Banda as one capable of inspiring others to believe in themselves and their capabilities.
She observed that Mr Kalungu-Banda once offered consultancy services to late president Levy Mwanawasa, adding that Driftology was a journey of self-awareness with an underlying theme of finding one’s ultimate purpose in life.
“My final verdict is that this book is not a one-off read; it’s a reference that one can consult from time to time,” she said.
Mr Kalungu-Banda and Mbololwa said Driftology was a celebration of the many people whom they identified as “guardian angels” for being instrumental in making them what they had become.
Mbololwa, who spoke via teleconference from the UK, cited her father (Mr Kalungu-Banda) as her “guardian angel” for, among other things, cutting her umbilical cord when she was born in 1997.
Lubushi Seminary Trust patron Evarist Njelesani commended Mr Kalungu-Banda for giving back to Lubushi Seminary School where he was 34 years ago by dedicating the proceeds realised from the book sales at the launch to the institution.
