GOVERNMENT has said the creation of Continental Free Trade Area (CFTA) will provide an expanded market access for Zambian products.
Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry director of domestic trade, John Mulongoti said the CFTA would provide a platform for Zambian products to penetrate regional and international markets.
According to a statement released by first secretary for Press and tourism at the Zambian Embassy in Ethiopia, Naomi Chulu, Mr Mulongoti said Zambia was currently working on policies that would promote production capabilities of local companies.
He said the promotion of the production capabilities of local companies would be done through creation of Multi-Facility Economic Zones.
Mr Mulongoti was speaking on the sidelines of the on-going CFTA negotiating forum in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
He said the value addition through cluster chains would also enable Zambian products to compete favourably with other international items.
