By ADRIAN MWANZA –
FUTSAL national team assistant coach Brian Kunsanana says Zambia will cope with the tough competition the North African giants Tunisia pose at the forthcoming Africa Cup slated for South Africa next month.
Kunsanana said North African countries were more experienced and technically advanced in futsal and were a real threat for Zambia.
He said Tunisia had been to the World Cup before which gave them an edge over Zambia in terms of experience.
Zambia was pitted in Group A together with Tunisia, South Africa and Mozambique while Egypt and Morocco lead Group B of the tournament which kicks off on April 15.
Kunsanana said he was confident the team would qualify for the Futsal World Cup billed for Colombia in September this year.
“Our aim is to finish third at the African championship which will give us automatic qualification to the World Cup,” he said.
Team captain Arnold Chishimba said the squad was ready for the challenge ahead. Chishimba said the team comprised of good players like Kenny Chulu and Boniface Banda whose experience would help Zambia reap at least a medal.
He said the team was equal to the task and would ensure they attain their ultimate goal of qualifying for the World Cup.
“We are more than ready for the Futsal Africa Cup of Nations and I can tell you that we are certain of qualifying to the World Cup,” he said.
The top three finishers at the event qualify to the World Cup.
