A TEAM of volunteers with multiple skills from United Kingdom (UK) has arrived in Choma on a three-month working visit to support Government’s delivery of quality reproductive health services to the locals.

The 12 UK volunteers join 12 other Choma-based youth volunteers under the Youth Development Organisation (YDO) to implement various health and community developmental programmes.

Team leader, Jessica Ellis, said the UK volunteers had come with many skills of human development issues and would work closely with communities in Choma to improve their livelihoods.

Ms Ellis was speaking on Tuesday when YDO executive director Partner Siabutuba officially introduced the volunteers to District Commissioner Bernadette Hamweemba.

“We are happy to come to Zambia particularly in Choma. We are eager to closely work with health centres on many developmental programmes and leave positive impacts on residents,” Ms Ellis said.

Mr Siabutuba said the volunteers, who would be working in health institutions such as Shampande Clinic in Choma, were keen to support Government in promoting quality health reproductive services.

He said Choma was densely populated with youths and was confident that the volunteers would enhance exchange of developmental issues with local youths.

Ms Hamweemba said the Government would continue to create a conducive environment for stakeholders to partner with it in uplifting the welfare of vulnerable people.
