NWK Agri-Services will this year construct an agro retail centre in Mpongwe District to take agricultural inputs and services closer to farmers on the Copperbelt.
Company agriculture manager Edwin Banda said the company was in the process of starting the construction of a new office and retail centre at a cost of K1 million to take the services closer to the people.
Mr Banda said the move would help the company to provide quality agricultural inputs.
He was speaking in an interview in Mpongwe at the weekend.
“Our network of retail stores will continue to grow in 2016. This will allow us to source products for our customers more efficiently and to provide them with a larger selection of agricultural inputs and hardware materials,” Mr Banda said.
He said the company had already acquired land for the construction of the retail centre but was still waiting for the Mpongwe District council to give them legal documents so that they could commence construction.
Mr Banda said the retail centre and the office were expected to be operational by August this year.
He said this would ease the distribution of farming inputs in the district as farmers would be able to visit the retail centre to access them.
Mr Banda said  the company would construct about four storage sheds in the country.
