By KELVIN MUDENDA –
MORE than 200 United Party for National Development (UPND) and Rainbow Party members in Livingstone have defected to the Patriotic Front (PF).
The 218 new members were led by suspended UPND Musi-oa-tunya Ward councillor Ziwa Ziwa.
Meanwhile, the PF in Livingstone has launched its district mobilisation unit, anchored on the slogan ‘PF youths no violence dot com campaigns’.
Southern Province PF mobilisation chairperson Brave Mweetwa said only the PF had an agenda to run the affairs of Zambia and to spur development in all parts of the country.
Mr Mweetwa accused opposition UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema of preaching tribalism in Southern Province.
He said the PF had continued growing, as evidenced by the number of defections from the opposition political parties to the ruling party.
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Mr Ziwa said that God had already given President Lungu a new mandate to govern the country.
Meanwhile, PF youths no violence dot com representative Maxwell Chongo said PF youths in the country had vowed to walk the talk by preaching the message of peace and saying no to all forms of violence.
