GOVERNMENT has set tomorrow as burial for the 25 people who died in Saturday’s collision involving a Marcopolo bus and a Mercedes Benz minibus.
First Lady Esther Lungu is expected to attend the funeral, which would be preceded by a church service at Godfrey ‘Ucar’ Chitalu stadium before mourners depart for St Mary’s Cemetery.
Government had provided the necessary logistics, including coffins and transport, while those that had asked to bury their relatives separately outside Kabwe had also been allowed to do so.
Central Province Minister Davies Chisopa said when he addressed the families of the victims in Kabwe yesterday that the Government would provide all the logistics for the funeral.
Twenty-five people, including three children, died when a Scania Marcopolo bus, registration number AJB 6340, collided with the Benz minibus, registration number ACZ 4829, in Manyumbi area on the Great North Road.
President Edgar Lungu said the Government would take over all the expenses of the funeral.
The accident was the second within days after seven people died at the same spot when a Mazhandu Family bus overturned.
Meanwhile, five out of the 11 people that were injured are still admitted to Kabwe General Hospital.
Hospital medical superintendent George Chipulu said the condition of the survivors had improved.
