THE Champions Royal Assembly Zambia has refuted claims from some sections of the media that Nigerian prophet Joshua Iginla is coming to Zambia for political reasons.
Prophetess Ivy, the pastor in charge of the Champions Royal Assembly Zambia, said Apostle Iginla from Champions Royal Assembly in Abuja, Nigeria, was not coming to Zambia for political reasons or in connection with the August 11 general elections.
She said in a walk-in interview yesterday that the apostle was coming to Zambia for salvation of souls like any man or woman of God that had been coming to the country.
Prophetess Ivy said the apostle should have come to Zambia in November last year but he was unable to do so because of the rainy season which prompted the change of his visit to May this year.
“So whatever people are saying that he is coming to prophesise on the upcoming elections in favour of the ruling party is not true,” Prophetess Ivy said.
She said Apostle Iginla, who is the sole sponsor of his visit to Zambia, would be in the country from May 5 to 7, 2016, and that all people, including those in Government and opposition, were free to attend his sermons.
“Anyone is free to attend, whether anyone in the Government or anyone is in the opposition is welcome because him, he is coming for the salvation of souls, not for political gain or any group,” she said.
Champions Royal Assembly Zambia Church administrator Chibwe Mulenga said the apostle was coming purely to save souls and preach the word of God.
Mr Mulenga said Apostle Iginla initially came to Zambia in 2014  but last year failed to come because of the rain which would have  affected his programmes.
“He is a man of God who stands according to Bible principles and he doesn’t involve himself in politics whether in Nigeria or in Zambia here. It’s purely biblical principles on which he stands,” Mr Mulenga said.
He urged Zambians to turn up in big numbers at Heroes Stadium and listen to the apostle’s preaching.
“Yes, if God directs him to say anything, he will, depending on how God directs him so. Whatever he says it is the Holy Spirit that guides him,” Mr Mulenga said.
Sylvia Chilumanda, who is the church secretary for Champions Royal Assembly, said Apostle Iginla was coming to Zambia because Zambia was a Christian Nation and his visit would be to win souls.
Ms Chilumanda said Apostle Iginla was not only coming to Zambia as he had been in South Africa and wondered how his coming to Zambia should be politicised.
“The other week he was in Cameroon. He also went to preach the Word of God there. He is going according to the way God is directing him to go. He is coming to save the nation of Zambia,” Ms Chilumanda said.
