THE Zambia Swimming Union (ZASU) will this Saturday host the North-versus-South swimming gala at Simba Seals Swimming club in Ndola aimed at grading swimmers in various age-group categories.
ZASU Copperbelt representative Sophie Peach said in an interview that the event would be followed by the ZASU annual awards ceremony that would see deserving swimmers rewarded for their performances over the last one year.
“ZASU will hold a North-versus-South gala where the best swimmers from each age group will earn points and will get rated. The gala will be followed by the ZASU end-of-year awards ceremony in Ndola,” she said.
She said more than 150 swimmers were likely to take part in the gala, and that the swimmers would battle it out to get recognised for their achievements at the end of the year.
She said some of the categories at the awards gala would be swimmer of the year, president’s trophy, and highest Fina points earned, the best sportsmanship of the year and the league winners, among others.
