KABIMBA 628 X 350By MELBOURNE MUSHITU –

RAINBOW Party leader and presidential candidate Wynter Kabimba has hit out at the United Party for National Development (UPND), saying violence and corruption describe what the party stands for.
Mr Kabimba urged Zambians not to risk voting for UPND president Hakainde Hichilema.
He said the UPND lacked the moral right to label the PF as corrupt because it had embraced members from it, thus justifying its hidden corrupt image.
“This means that the UPND is the most corrupt party. I urge Zambians not to vote for the UPND. It is more corrupt than any other party.
“It has welcomed members that were once leaders of the PF. The UPND will dent the image of this country,” Mr Kabimba said.
Of late, the UPND had labelled the PF as corrupt, but has not provided any proof to justify the allegations.
The Rainbow Party president told a public gathering in Lusaka’s Mandevu Township on Wednesday that the UPND would dent the image of Zambia if voted into office because it was more corrupt than any other political party.
Mr Kabimba also defended his former party, the Patriotic Front (PF), of which he was the chief executive, after the UPND labelled it as corrupt.
However, the rally was punctuated with jeering each time Mr Kabimba mentioned something negative against President Edgar Lungu.
Mr Kabimba said Zambians risked placing the country in jeopardy if they voted for the UPND because of its alleged corrupt and violent reputation.
He accused the UPND of being the most violent party even after making a commitment at the peace indaba in Lusaka, where political leaders committed to decelerate violent conduct by their members and uphold peace.
Mr Kabimba said the Mandevu meeting was aimed at educating the people on what his party would offer once voted into office on August 11.
“If you want to see positive change here, don’t vote for the UPND in the August general elections,” he said.
Mr Kabimba promised to build more health centres and empower youths.
Backing his Mandevu Constituency parliamentary aspirant, Mr Kabimba said, Wesley Muswema was a resident of the area and understood the hardships that the locals endured and would be able to address the challenges once voted for.
Mr Kabimba said other political parties had their aspirants residing in other areas, and they did not have the heart for the people of Mandevu.
He appealed to Mandevu residents to vote ‘NO’ in the Referendum, alleging that it would not benefit them.
Mr Kabimba described himself as the best candidate of all those in contention for the race to State House.
