By NDINAWE SIMPELWE –
A top-of-the-bill clash between UNZA Pacers and Green Buffaloes will lead the Midlands Basketball Association long weekend action while on the Copperbelt, Lunga Bullets and CEC Cavaliers will put their unbeaten start to the season on the line against YMCA Stingers and Ndola Nets, respectively.
Pacers v Buffaloes
The two teams dominated the Midlands league last season and both started the new one on a bright note picking wins against their opponents.
Pacers are sitting on top of the table while Buffaloes are second, giving this game all the ingredients to play for.
The fixture may have come too early in the season, but points will be at stake. The game is also a big test for Pacers’ new coaches Mulenga Mumba and Humphrey Banda, who replaced Cuthbert Tembo after he stepped down at the end of last season.
Denvers v Munali
The Evelyn Hone College Nishati Denvers lost their opening game to Pacers and will be looking to jump-start their campaign today with a tricky tie against Munali Suns who are also searching for their win.
Munali Suns survived relegation by a whisker last season and they will be determined not to let the predicament repeat itself this season.
They need to beat teams like Denevers to have any chance of remaining in the Super League.
In the feminine league, UNZA Honeys face their rivals Hotspurs while Shells take on LCC Lootresses.
On the Copperbelt, there is everything to play for as Bullets and Cavaliers look to continue their dominance.
Bullets look to have a relatively easier game against Stingers and will not have difficulties to pick a third straight win, but on the other hand, Cavaliers, who have vowed to end Bullets’ dominance, have a real test against the Ndola Nets.
The rest of the action will see Mufulira Cardinals face Mufulira Magnets, CEC Blazer against Kalewa, CBU Comets will play Pathers and in the feminine category, Lunga Wooster will be up against Mufulira Saints.
