CHAMPIONS Red Arrows whitewashed bottom placed Green Buffaloes in a defence force derby to open up a healthy eight-point lead at the peak of the National Rugby League (NRL) table after Week 10 games.
The airmen put up a dominant performance to down Buffaloes who managed to score five penalties through Niven Kunda which were subdued by the visitor’s eight tries to remain at the base on 15 points.
Arrows now on 35 points picked up bonus points following a brace of tries by Oscar Bwalya and Edward Mumba with Goodhope Mwewa, Vincent Nkole, Malambo Mutinta and Simon Kampindu contributing one apiece.
Terry Kaushiku was on hand to place six of the eight conversions and scored a penalty as Arrows ran riot and completed a double over promoted Buffaloes, who were left stare relegation.
Nkwazi 3 KPF 0
Nkwazi maintained second slot on 27 points after a narrow win thanks to a Laston Mukosa penalty over Kitwe Playing Fields (KPF) who got a bonus point to be in fifth position on 16 points.
Lusaka 24 Eagles 13
‘Powerhouse’ Lusaka moved into fourth position with 18 points after crushing Green Eagles, who remained stuck on 15 points.
Four tries from Given Phiri, Mcgiven Muchindu, Sanika Mwale and Kerry Summerton with two conversions by Shelly Kasuba was enough to secure victory for the former league champions.
Eagles could only score two tries through Norman Mwamba and Chileshe Malama while George Mwape added a drop goal.
Diggers 19 v
Chibuluma 5
‘Men At Work’ Diggers recovered from last week 20-5 defeat to Nkwazi to beat Chibuluma and consolidate third position on 24 points.
Billy Maipambe, Edmond Hamayuwa and Kabaso Mulenga scored a try each with Brian Mbalwa and Patrick Chanda managing two conversions while Chibuluma, on 15 points, scored a try through Wezi Zulu which Ken Bwalya failed to convert.
Meanwhile, in the B Division, Konkola lost 0-12 to Mufulira as Roan whacked Kansanshi 20-0 away with Nchanga whipping Ndola Wanderers 30-0.
