By KENNEDY MUPESENI – AN Indian manufacturing company is looking for a Zambian partner to start the distribution of power and equipment in the local market. Plaza Power and Infrastructure company export head Munish Taneja said the company was seeking local partnerships in the distribution of its equipment. “We are a well-diversified equipment manufacturer with a long history of producing various machines, exporting to various countries and we would like to work with local agencies here in Zambia,” Mr Taneja said. He said this in an interview at the just-ended Zambia International Trade Fair (ZITF) in Ndola. Mr Taneja said Zambia had a lot of potential for infrastructure equipment due to the massive infrastructure development happening in the country. Establishing an outlet in the country would reduce the cost of imports contractors incur to bring equipment in the country. He said Plaza was well positioned to supply any type and size of infrastructure equipment looking at the manufacturing capacity. Mr Taneja said while in Lusaka before coming to the trade fair, he made good contacts which he hoped would culminate in the forging of distribution partnerships. “While in Lusaka,I made serious contacts which I am sure will yield positive results, we are looking for a serious distributor here in Zambia and this is the reason we decided to exhibit our products and services,” he said. Mr Taneja hoped that the Ndola trade fair could be more business oriented than just a fair where visitors went to look at goods and services without actual trade. “This is my first time to take part in the trade fair ,I hope there will be more transactions like what happens back home in India where you have a lot visitors passing through the stand,” he said.
