PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu has urged the people of Mazabuka to give him a fresh mandate because he is an experienced and tested leader whose works can speak for themselves.
Mr Lungu said at a public rally held at Katombola grounds in Mazabuka yesterday that Zambians should not experiment with leadership by voting for people who did not know what leading a country was all about.
The Head of State told the people of Mazabuka that voting for him would be choosing peace, development and unity.
Mr Lungu said he had been serving since January 2015 when he was voted into office and, as such, he was an experienced leader who should be given another five-year mandate.
The Head of State also thanked the people of Mazabuka ‎for voting for him in 2015 in as much as the votes were less because they made a difference.
Mr Lungu said he believed in democracy where a person could not marshal all the votes and that as a President in power, he was a President of all Zambians, including those in opposition.
He warned Zambians against experimenting with leadership but to go with what they already had.
“Governing people is not easy as it requires people who fear and respect God and embrace the poor,” Mr Lungu said.
President Lungu said PF was founded on the principle of respecting the poor and all Zambians.
He said it was for this reason that his Government valued farmers by ensuring prompt delivery of fertiliser and payment for maize sold to the Food Reserve Agency (FRA).
Mr Lungu also told the people of Mazabuka that the PF had constructed roads in rural areas to ease people’s mobility.
He urged them not to listen to critics who were wondering whether they would eat roads, saying roads enabled easy movement of farm produce to markets.
Mr Lungu said it was his wish to ensure that rural people enjoyed most of the facilities enjoyed by people in urban areas and that this was the reason he was taking development to all corners of Zambia.
He also said the PF was taking development to all corners of the country, hence the reason he insisted on reviving the ‘One Zambia One nation’ motto.
“As we are going to vote I am asking, please don’t spill blood, there is no need to butcher each other. Kenneth Kaunda was president for 27 years and he left in peace,” Mr Lungu said.
Mazabuka PF parliamentary aspiring candidate Max Mwiinga ‎assured Mr Lungu of victory in the area.
PF deputy secretary general Mumbi Phiri urged the people of Mazabuka to give their vote to Mr Lungu.
And PF member Austin Chewe  told the people of Mazabuka that Mr Lungu was not an experiment but the right person to lead Zambians.
Mr Chewe said Southern Province was one of the biggest beneficiaries of Mr Lungu’s work and there was no excuse as to why ‎people should not use their vote wisely by voting for him.
