Zesco 2 Arrows 0
ZESCO United grinded out a deserved win over Red Arrows to go second on the MTN-FAZ Super League Table on goal difference over Nkana and close the gap on leaders Zanaco to nine points.
Zanaco lead the log on 40 points followed by champions Zesco and Nkana relegated into third position while Arrows remained mid table with 20 points.
This Week Four rescheduled clash saw Zesco captain of the day, Jackson Mwanza head the hosts in front in the 16th minute. This was after forward Jesse-Jackson Were controlled a cleared corner to whip in a delicious ball which found Mwanza larking at the far post to nod home.
There was a moment of madness two minutes after half time when Arrows defender Rodrick Zimba played a needless back pass to his goalkeeper Danny Munyau, who tried to dribble Were but was dispossessed by the striker who walked with the ball into the empty net for Zesco’s second.
Zesco still has games against Green Buffaloes this Saturday before taking on ‘Mighty’ Mufulira Wanderers and wrap it up with game against Nakambala Leopards.
