ORIENTAL Quarries Boxing Promotions (OQBP) in conjunction with SOS village will host the Punch Out Early Marriages and Knockout violence against Children Armature boxing tournament on Saturday.
OQBP promotions manager Christopher Malunga confirmed the development in a statement released yesterday stating the main aim of the tournament was to educate the general public about the dangers of early marriages, fighting and reducing violence among members of the communities.
“OQPB in conjunction with SOS village will host a tournament this weekend on December 24, 2016, the theme will be Punch Out Early Marriages and Knocking Out Violence Against Children, it will be held at Bwafwano Primary School in Chanzanga compound,” he said.
Malunga said OQBP and SOS will recognise boxers who showcased outstanding performances this year.
He said all the awards will have medals and monetary reward.
“We shall award the best boxer of 2016, the best upcoming female boxer of the year, the best upcoming male boxer of the year, the best official of the year and the best MABA club of the year, all these will have medals and monetary gains,” he said.
Malunga has since appealed to all MABA clubs to make sure all the boxers and officials are ready for the tournament adding this will help in enhancing the art of boxing in the country.
