SEVERAL officers in the Ministry of Lands have been reshuffled and redeployed to curb familiarity and lethargy which lead to corruption, Lands Minister Jean Kapata has said.
President Edgar Lungu sanctioned the reshuffles in the civil service as he perceived that service delivery was sluggish due to lethargy among the officers.
Ms Kapata said in an interview yesterday that the officers had been redeployed to other ministries and their positions refilled by people from other Government departments.
She said the Government wanted sanity in land administration to levels where the ‘poor’ and ‘rich’ had equal access to the resource.
Ms Kapata said every Zambian should enjoy equal access to land regardless of their status in society.
She said the administration of land title is decentralised and any person interested in acquiring the resource could access the service from the Ministry of Lands offices dotted across the country.
