By MAIMBOLWA MULIKELELA –
THE Zambian economy has been growing judging by steady sales growth of commercial vehicles, Southern Cross Motors has said.
Company sales manager Mike Ng’uni said steady commercial vehicle sales for the sectors such as construction, agriculture and mining are positive signs of economic activity in the country and demonstrate the benefits of improved road infrastructure.
Speaking in Lusaka to recap on the motoring industry in 2016, Mr Ng’uni said the bulk of sales may comprise pre-owned commercial vehicles but it was still growth, albeit interspaced with some downturns.
“Southern Cross Motors has played an extremely pivotal role with its contribution to providing locomotive and logistical solutions to the Zambian economic growth…,” Mr Ng’uni said.
He said Zambia’s location in Southern Africa has opened up growth opportunities for Southern Cross Motors with the company contributing to economic growth to the entire region.
On the company’s investment in its operations, Mr Ng’uni said they have invested significantly in dealership, equipment and human capital.
He said investment in training and skills development was an on-going activity with dedicated budget lines.
