YOUTH Olympics 100m champion Sydney Siame has been invited to take part in the South African Open athletics Championships slated for March next year.
Siame, the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympics gold medalist, said he was ready to make an impact at the championships.
Siame said he was confident that he would perform well at the tournament which will have a number of top athletes from across the continent.
He said his target was to beat his personal best in the 100m and 200m races which are currently on 10.18 and 20.50 seconds, respectively.
“My target next year is to break all my personal best times in both the 100 and 200m categories,” he said.
Siame said he was also working on improving the national record which is currently 10.03 seconds in the 100m and 20.03 seconds in the 200m with both held by US based sprinter Gerald Phiri.
“I am also focusing on beating the national records which are held by US based sprinter Gerald Phiri in both the 100m and 200m categories,” he said.
He said a number of local tournaments had been lined up that would help him prepare for the International Athletics Association Federation (IAAF) World championships slated for August 5 in London.
“I will also concentrate on the local tournaments for me to prepare adequately for the world championships slated for August,” he said.
