UNITED States of America (USA) based Zambian basketball player Patson Siame has begged the Zambia Basketball Federation (ZBAF) to give him a national team call up in this year’s Afro-basketball qualifiers.
Siame, who is currently plying his trade at Arizona Christian University (ACU), said he was more than ready to play for the country if he was given a call up.
Siame said it was his wish to help the country qualify for the basketball Africa Cup, whose final will be in Congo Brazzaville.
“I would be more than glad to help my nation qualify for the Afro basketball tournament and, if possible, even win the tournament for Zambian’s. Looking at the pace at which the sport is growing, the chances of us qualifying and making an impact are very high,” he said.
And ZBAF general secretary Mwembe Kaona said the association would consider calling Siame and other foreign based players in order to beef up the squad ahead of the tournament.
“We need to beef up our squad and if guys that are based abroad come through, then it will be to our advantage he said,” he said.
