By JAJAH COULIBALY –
IN a sporadic blitz, police raided former Post Newspaper managing editor Fred M’membe’s residence on Nangwenya Road in Lusaka’s Rhodes Park area.
A check by Sunday Times found plain clothes security officers trying to load the printer onto a police truck using a forklift.
The printer is suspected to be one of the assets belonging to the defunct Post Newspaper (in liquidation).
The heavily secured room where the printer is housed was littered with some waste copies of the Mast Newspaper.
Efforts to remove the machine failed because it needed dismantling before being loaded onto a truck.
This is the second raid at the residence with the first one resulting in a charge against Dr M’membe’s wife Mutinta Mazoka with obstruction and tearing a police search warrant.
The Post Newspapers in liquidation owes the Zambia Revenue Authority more than K53.8 million Kwacha in unremitted taxes including liabilities to workers amounting to K80 million in unpaid terminal benefits.
